Dear
Friends
A very
Happy New Year to you!
Needless to say the start of our ministry year has arrived with all
engines still revving from last year J After 7 months of outreach in
Fiji and New Zealand, and over 30,000 people ministered to, 2010
presents to us an equally bright challenge!
I have just come from 3 days of celebrating YWAM’s 50th Jubilee year,
attended by over 800 delegates from 40 different nations. Loren &
Darlene Cunningham and a host of influential leaders past and present
joined the celebration, hosted at Bethlehem College in Tauranga.
Starting in New Zealand this Jubilee year will be celebrated around the
world, culminating with a week-long event in Kona, Hawaii in November.
I cannot help but be encouraged to hear the founders of our mission
declare their hearts for mobilising ships’ around the globe, with a
desire to complete what Jesus Christ started over two thousand years
ago. If you can, visit the official YWAM 50th Jubilee website: www.ywam50.com for more information.
In just a matter of weeks the M/V Pacific Link will sail to Newcastle,
Australia for a 9 month tour to call that nation’s young people to a
life of mission. Aided by hundreds of young YWAMers, this adventure
will visit 24 ports from Hobart to Cairns, and will include medical
outreaches to PNG later in the year. Our target is to see 100,000 youth
find their ‘on ramp’ to missions in a powerful and practical way.
The strategy and desire is simple: we are to engage the youth of
Australia and call them to reach their world. This vision is not small
but is what we feel called to do in this season.
The transfer of the operations of the Pacific Link to YWAM Australia we
believe will usher in a new movement of young people to reach the
least, last and the lost … We move forward in the spirit of generosity
to overcome the mentality of poverty; to see God release not only
people but a fleet of ships in the Pacific.
At the moment we are dreaming and in the process of finding a
replacement ship for New Zealand, and ships for other centres in the
Pacific.
It was good to see some of you our supporters and friends at the YWAM
Jubilee celebration. Our endeavour, we believe, is God’s idea and we
know Him to be faithful. We look on to the next 50 years with
anticipation because the best is yet to come!
“The world may fall
apart, but with God my faith will fall into place!” Let us be people of
faith for 2010 not because we have enough but because God has enough.”
Thank you for making it possible for us to continue our work in the
Pacific; to bring lasting change to communities and nations. You are a
big part of it, so be blessed!
