2009 Marine Reach Manifesto
Hebrews 10: 23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. 24And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.
We are firmly convinced that in times of great crisis, we are made to choose where our loyalties and beliefs lie. It is during these times of uncertainty that our faith is tested and our hope in God shines. In Hebrews 10:23, it encourages us to hold fast to the hope we profess and verse 24 encourages us to take action and not be blindsided by world events that cripple the mind and resolve of many.
The prophet Isaiah in Chapter 61 admonishes us to understand and pursue our calling and what God has ask us to do... with that we express with this manifesto our heart and desire for the year 2009 as our guiding light in the hour of darkness and need.
- We will always rejoice! We know that the joy of the Lord is our strength and that joy produces perseverance and perseverance produces hope and with that we shall not be disappointed.
- We will always be grateful! A grateful heart is always satisfied and will not want, in the small things we shall give thanks and be impressed with God not the gift.
- We shall be flexible! The flexible shall not be broken... we will continually address change in our midst and be malleable in the potter’s hand.
- We will fight for the weak and defend the oppressed! True fasting is born out of compassion for what God’s heart is broken for, we will give and not hold back, we will go to the far flung forgotten places no matter what the price.
- We will be seekers of the Truth! The truth shall set us free...we commit as a ministry to be intimate with the One that called us by name. Always ready to hear God’s voice and obey, and constantly put first the purposes of the kingdom of God as this is our prime directive.
- Finally, we will love our Lord God with all our soul, mind and strength and to love those He loves expressing that with words and deeds.
Philippians 4:8 -9 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is fair, whatever is pure, whatever is acceptable, whatever is commendable, if there is anything of excellence and if there is anything praiseworthy—keep thinking about these things. Likewise, keep practicing these things: what you have learned, received, heard, and seen in me. Then the God of peace will be with you.
