The Pacific Link and her crew have arrived safely in Lautoka, Fiji after a somewhat lumpy and bumpy 6 day voyage. Understandably some of the crew were sick for a short time, and only too happy to make landfall!
The journey of preparing for the ship's departure from New Zealand was equally tumultuous, but full of God-given stories of triumph and overcoming.
Dry docking the Pcific Link was one of those triumphs. We are required by maritime law to adhere to strict safety standards for our vessels. This means every two years we must haul the ship out of the water (all 290 tons of it!) for maintenance. It is an expensive exercise, but one that on this occasion was blessed by perfect weather and a very accommodating dry dock company.
With professional volunteers, crew and staff the entire project was completed in just 3 ½ days - short of the 5 days we allowed.
$37,000 of the total $45,000 project came in to pay the company within 48 hours of the ship being finished - a major miracle indeed!

We laboured weeks before to raise the anount and praise God it sure came in quickly!
I would like to extend my gratefulness and sincere thanks to those of you who gave generously to the 'Noah SOS Project'. Thank you also to those who faithfully give towards our needs. The ship looks fantastic and is ready for another two years of ministry out in the Pacific.
As I write this, Pacific Link is beginning its first Mission Reach Team outreach for 2009. Against the backdrop of a world economic crisis, we want to be known as a people that understand and operate in God's economy ... providing hope and healing to the ever-increaing need. Our small group of daring 'soldiers' that are in Fiji believe in the overcoming power of Jesus Christ, and will demonstrate it pracically throughout the year.
Enjoy reading our April edition of 'Making Waves'; may the stories fill you with Christian hope and love.
May the peace that transcends all understanding fill your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus! |
